Brandon Mosiah (Alpha Memphis) Fulton, is an American hip-hop singer-songwriter who has been compared to J. Cole, Joey Bada$$, and Kool G Rap for his thought-provoking lyrics, fiery vocals, and honest, emotive delivery. He creates interesting stories and developed melodies in his songs, all while bringing the excitement of his music to life on stage with his exciting personality. The Notorious BIG, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, and the Wu-Tang Clan have all served as sources of inspiration for him. The Source, Complex, and HipHopDX have all covered Alpha. Opening for Post Malone and scoring the original theme song for the highly acclaimed 'What You Thought Podcast,' a weekly podcast discussing everything and nothing at the same time, are among his career highlights. 'Hold Up, Hold On' is his most recent single released May 2022, this song highlights his melodic roots showcasing an incredible ability to float within any soundscape.
Alpha's informal musical adventure began in high school before he released music. Starting out freestyling in the parks of Manhattan's Lower East Side, Alpha swiftly rose to prominence, releasing freestyle videos that propelled him to the top of his school's rapper rankings. Genius Sounds Family was born out of this school. A group of like-minded artists with the shared purpose of creating art that defied the industry's monotony at the time. GSF was first exposed to the public through a self-titled compilation project. Alpha went on to collaborate with his high school best friend Machia, forming the duo Dynamic Equilibrium. Alpha's solo debut was the freshman 'Post Crack Era' 2014 album; he had been making freestyles in the park for so long that the transition into the studio was seamless, and the resulting album became a cult classic.
Genius Sounds Family is a record label that houses a slew of insanely talented artists. Alpha Memphis' most recent album, “The Funktion,” was executive produced by in-house producer Lonz Cityy. The album provided a shocking insight into the mind of a mad genius. The Funktion has something for everyone, with upbeat tempos and slow somber melodies.
We had a submission on Groovers by Alpha Memphis. We as a label have enjoyed the track, the track had those Jazzy synths vibes like Notorious BIG, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg. The track name is “HOLD UP, HOLD ON!” which will available on all streaming platforms.

We had a chance to have an interview with him, so here it all goes!
— We asked him that how did came up with this album, and what was the thought process For it?
He replied- “This song was written on the spur of the moment. I had a skeletal version of the instrumental that I made using looperman sounds, and I could tell there was something there, so I reached out to Machia (1/2 of Dynamic Equilibrium), my brother and executive producer of my freshman album 'Post Crack Era,' and asked if he could lend an ear to this project. We ended up co-producing this tune at his home studio in Brooklyn, and he went above and beyond. The song virtually wrote itself after the foundation was laid. I started freestyling to the loop we had, and before I knew it, we were in the studio chanting “Hold Up, Hold On!”
The track is such fire!! Our audience will surely love it.
Our next question was,
— What first got you into music?
He replied- “I've always loved music, all kinds of music. Because my father is Jamaican, and my mother is from Brooklyn, I grew up listening to a lot of reggae and R&B. My passion for hip-hop began at a young age, and when I began creating my own songs, I realized I'd discovered something great, and I've never looked back. By the time I got to high school and started meeting other rappers and showcasing my skills, I quickly become the go-to guy for a fire 16 at the lunch table, over the acoustic stylings of a Bic pen and lighter combo, humble beginnings”
Yes, if you have desire for something, you will surely achieve it one or the other day.
Moving to our next question,
— Which artist inspires you the most and why?
He replied- “My other brother, Lonz Cityy, is an artist who currently inspires me the most. Lonz, the most prolific member of the Genius Sounds Family, also served as executive producer for my most recent album “The Funktion,” an introspective look into the mind of a Genius. Lonz's production has gained traction since the release of “The Funktion.” My family is my greatest source of inspiration”
Like one said “Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family: Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.”!
Going to next,
— Your thoughts on Hip Hop scene right now? Like chances for new upcoming artists to get charted!?
He replied- “In terms of the current state of the hip hop scene, I think it's incredible that people can follow their dreams and create opportunities for their families and themselves through music. Right now, there are so many opportunities to establish yourself as an artist that there is no one formula for success, which is what I love about the current state of hip hop. There will be no overnight celebrity, but the internet and social media has certainly accelerated the process of going from zero to household name. Many people would argue that the market is oversaturated, but I think that's a good thing. You can carve out your own market, create your own label, and create your own lane”
True! It's all about talent and creativity.
And our last question,
— Any final words for our reader and people listening to your music?
He replied- “I'd like to express my gratitude for taking the time to get to know me better. If you've ever listened to any of my music, you know how much I adore you. What are you doing if you've never heard any of my music and have read this entire interview? Begin with 'Hold Up, Hold On,' and work your way down the catalogue; you won't be sorry. Special thanks to Ashwary and the entire JBR team; I am grateful for this opportunity. Genius Sounds Family wishes you all the best”
